Current Projects

Below you will find a description of ongoing projects in my research group

The Open Energy Outlook (OEO) Initiative is a collaboration between the Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University and North Carolina State University. The Initiative aims to bring energy modeling into the twenty-first century by applying the gold standards of policy-focused academic modeling, maximizing transparency, building a networked community, and working towards a common goal: examining feasible energy futures to inform future energy and climate policy efforts.

The Electricity Growth and Use in Developing  Economies (e-GUIDE) Initiative seeks to transform the approaches used for planning and operations of electricity infrastructure in developing regions. We are also evaluating the role of interdependent infrastructure and social systems in alleviating poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. Finally, through this Initiative, my students are working better to understand climate impacts and mitigation options in Sub-Saharan Africa.
